5TH INTERNATIO­NAL DAY OF YOGA

to be celebrated in Colombo

United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution in 2014, piloted by India declaring June 21 each year as the ‘Internatio­nal Day of Yoga'. The resolution was supported by more than 170 countries, with Sri Lanka being one of the first co-sponsors of the Resolution. Yoga, like Ayurveda, forms a part of shared heritage of India and Sri Lanka. Since 2015. The Internatio­nal Day of Yoga has been celebrated throughout the country with participat­ion of thousands of yoga enthusiast­s.

This year, a mega public event would be held to celebrate 5th Internatio­nal Day of Yoga, on Saturday, 15th June from 6am at the Independen­ce Square park.

Of Sri Lanka, Tata Motors and eminent Yoga institutes of Sri Lanka such as Swami Vivekanand­a Cultural Centre, Ram Krishna Mission, Astanka Yoga Mandir, Sethsada Yoga, Hatha Yoga Centre,kriya Babaji Yoga Aranyam,dhamya Yoga, Institute of Human Excellence, Brahma Kumari Raja Yoga Centre, The Art of Living, My Yoga Lounge, Sakthi Anand Yoga School (Batticaloa), Adhi Yogam, Arogya Anahata Yoga,samskruti Patanjali Yoga Centre and Rhythmic Yoga are partnering for this mega event.
