Vietnamese Buddhist delegation visits Sri Lanka
Ven.thich Phuoc Ngoc ( Pham Van Cung) - Member of the Vietnam Global Record Council (Vietworld), and the Head of the Foreign Relations Department of the Vietnam Record Institute and Most Ven. Thich Phuoc Hiep - Board of Providers of Vinh Long Buddhism, Ven. Thach Chan Nhenh - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Patriotic Buddhist Association, together with monks and nuns of Vietnam visited Sri Lanka recently and they participated in several religious events here.
The main objective of arrival to Sri Lanka is to receive the Buddha’s relics and exhibit them in Vietnam. There was a grand religious ceremony in Galahitiyawa Purana Viharaya which is headed by Ven. Dr. Polgaswatte Paramananda and he presented the Buddha’s relics to the Most Ven. Thich Phuoc Ngoc ceremoniously in the presence of the ambassador to Vietnam in Sri Lanka.
The sacred donation ceremony, Ven. Thich Phuoc Ngoc and his representative delegation were honoured in the thrill of receiving the casket of containing the relics of the Buddha Shakyamuni, with the National Letter, and reports. Archaeological test of Lord Buddha relic was assumed by the Government, and the Maha Nayaka Thero of the Buddhist Sangha. It makes to strengthen the relationship between Vietnam and Sri Lanka respectively.
The Vietnamese Buddhist delegation visited the Dalada Maligawa, and worshipped the Noble Tooth Relics the Budddha. They also met with the Most Ven. Maha Nayaka Thera of the Malwathu Chapter of the Siam Maha Nikaya. They also visited sacred places at Anuradhapura, including the Atamastana.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe welcomed the delegation at the Temple Trees. They also met Leader of the Opposition and former President Mahinda Rajapaksha and had a cordial discussion with him. They participated at several religious programmes at the Purana Nandaramaya at Aluthwala, Ambalangoda and donated presents to Dhamma School students.
