The first wedding anniversary of award-winning songstress Deepika Priyadarshani Peiris and Chamika Kumara is round the corner. Daily Mirror ‘Life Impulse’ is glad to make the first move in wishing the couple a happy first anniversary. Now ‘you two’ will be celebrating ‘anniversary number one’ soon. Deepika, from the deepest corner of our hearts, we wish you everlasting happiness in life with Chamika, who despite being a banker, was a passionate arts lover and also a lyricist.

Chamika who wrote the song ‘Mage Denethata Denetha Thiya’ for Deepika, before their eyes met, recently recalled how he had met Deepika for the first time. “I had written a couple of songs and knew a few people in the music industry. I was working in a Middle Eastern country. One day I called a veteran female singer and asked for Deepika’s phone number because I had a song written for her about a mother. But she was reluctant to give me the number. She told me she had to ask Deepika before giving me her number. Due to time restrictions I got that song sung by another female singer. My mother earlier wanted me to do that song with Deepika. I sent a friend to her music academy in Kalubowila and got her number. I called her, but she did not respond. I called her through FB Messenger and fortunately she answered. We spoke a lot about songs, then I started texting her, sending links of my previous songs. Later we spoke about life as well and eventually I had a crush on her. She said she will help me by singing one of my lyrics. I met her for the first time in person in 2017.” “I invited him to join us on a pilgrimage to India and he obliged. We went to Dambadiva with some close family and friends. That’s how we got to know each other well. We saw something special in each other and eventually decided to enter wedlock,” recalled Deepika who will also be celebrating her birthday this week – on July 13.
