ATAMIE INT’L SCHOOL NETWORK CELEBRATES 16TH ANNIVERSARY
Atamie International School Network reputed for its multiethnic student base, celebrates 16 years of quality education with religious and racial harmony this year. Established on 09th January, 2003 as the brainchild of Deshamanya Dr. Azard Uduman, Atamie has reached successfully 16 years in the field of private education creating coexistence among its students in branches of school.the school network with branches at Mabola, Kotugoda, Ragama, Kotahena and the Head School at Wattala, Atamie boasts of a student base of over 2, 000 with classes ranging from Pre-school to London A/LS as well as Local O/LS and A/LS.
Addressing the media at its recently opened head school in Wattala Proprietor cum Head Principal of Atamie International Dr. Azard Uduman said the most unique feature of his schools was to maintain a culture where every student irrespective of their religion or race join hands to celebrate multi-religious events harmoniously at every main religious function of a calendar year. “Likewise the schools organizes Pirith Chanting ceremonies, the holy mass, Sana preeching, Seela Vyaparaya, Saraswati pooja, Lailathul Qudir night and Bayans, Wesak Dansela, Bakthi Gee programmes and Christmas carols etc. with the participation of all students, teachers and parents irrespective of their religious differences” Dr. Uduman explained. This multi-religious concept of Dr. Uduman had developed thousands of students to embrace a coexisting culture by making them realize that they were all Sri Lankans under one flag. “We as Sri Lankans must create the mind set of all our future generations to live happily together keeping aside all different cultures we must create the uniqueness of being a Sri Lankan,” said Dr. Uduman. Executive Director of Academics and Standards and a pioneering member of Atamie International David Philips said the school comprises of classes from Pre-school to London AIL and Local OIL’S and AIL’S. He said, Atamie gives the opportunity of developing in the fields of Commerce, Science, Arts and Mathematics. Students have performed so well in the yesteryears with higher grades in Edexcel / Pearson Exams conducted by the British Council. “Lately students are prepared to focus on local curriculum and Local exams as it has become an important requirement by the parents and as the government has taken a positive approach in granting exam status to international schools,” Mr. Philips said. School’s Administrator Amila Ramesh said the Atamie Network has spread its branches in Mabola, Kotugoda, Ragama, Kotahena and having opened its latest establishment cum the Head School at Wattala.
