SLMC to ponder over joining UNP alliance

Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Deputy Leader H. M. M. Harees said his party would decide whether to join or not an alliance led by United National Party, after August 11th. The alliance with the UNP was due to be initially formed today while SLPP and SLFP are due to announce their presidential candidate on the 11th.

“The SLMC will take their decision about joining the alliance led by UNP after these two events,” the Deputy party Leader said. “The Supreme Council of the party will decide about the candidate they will support at the presidential election after considering the policy statement of these parties with special attention to the provisions therein about the minorities of the country,”

he said
