First Kumbal Perahera of Dalada Maligawa to parade Kandy streets tonight

The first Kumbal Perahera of the annual Kandy Esala Perahera festival of Sri Dalada Maligawa will parade the streets tonight (05).

The Kandy Sri Dalada Maligawa Perahera will commence at auspicious time of 07.02 in the night accompanied by Natha, Vishnu, Paththini and Kataragama Devala Peraheras.

These peraheras will parade through Dalada Vidiya, D. S. Senanayake Vidiya, Pansala Para, Devala Vidiya and again reach the Dalada Maligawa through Kolamba Vidiya, Yatinuwara Vidiya and Raja Vidiya. After five days of parading of the Kumbal Perahera the first Randoli Perahera will commence on August 10th and the final Randoli Perahera will be held on the 14th.

A series of cultural performances including a number of elephants are scheduled to take part in the perahera.
