Floating Armoury: Four suspects further remanded

Four of the suspects in remand in connection with the Avantgarde floating armoury case were further remanded till August 09 by Galle Magistrate Harshana Kekulawela on Friday ( 02).

The suspects are: Fourth suspect, Chairman of Rakna Lanka Ltd. Victor Samaraweera, the fifth suspect retired Mjr. Gen. Palitha Waduge Piyasiri Fernando, the sixth suspect Retired Mjr. General Karunaratne Bandara Adikari Egodawela and the seventh suspect Secretary of the Police Commission Saman Dissanayake.

Prisons officials informed the Court that fifth suspect Palitha Waduge Piyasiri Fernando, sixth suspect Karunaratne Banda Adikari Egodawela and seventh suspect Saman Dissanayake were undergoing treatment at the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital.

Gennadiy Gavrylow and fourth suspect in remand Victor Samaraweera were also present in court. CID Investigation Officer IP Senerath made submissions for the State while a panel of attorneys including President’s Counsel A.P.G. Sarathchandra appeared for the accused.
