PREMADASAS WILL DEFINITELY WIN AND NEVER LOSE

- BY SANDUN A JAYASEKERA

UNP Deputy Leader and Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs Minister Sajith Premadasa said Premadasas will definitely win and never lose and this time the victory will not be to those who dwell in mansions.

Addressing a ceremony held after vesting the ‘Gandhi Nagar’ housing scheme constructed under the ‘Udagam Project’ in Batticaloa on Sunday with the people, Minister Premadasaa went onto say that many people ask me whether I am ready for the job coming in November – December period. I told them, son of Ranasinghe Premadasa is more than ready for it and also told them he would create a humanly Sri Lanka by uniting all communities, religions and provinces of mother Lanka.

“Premadasas would never lose. Premadasas always win. But this time, those who win will not be Premadasas but you the public. The victory will not be for those who dwell in mansions. We don’t think of living luxurious lives. Sajith Premadasa wearing this humble dress is ready to provide solutions to the burning problems of the people by understanding their plight.

Mr. Premadasa said he would launch Industrial Zones in all 332 Divisional Secretariat divisions to bring a new era of industrial and exports boom to the country on a people’s mandate.

All Sri Lankans hope for a total change, a new journey, new vision and a new programme to find long lasting solutions to their burning problems, he added.

He said that the world has experienced four industrial revolutions. Only the nations that exploited those revolutions fully to their advantage have emerged as top economies today. However, it is sad but true to say that we have failed miserably to use any of these revolutions to the benefit of our people and as a result Sri Lanka remains as a third world country.

“The so-called industrial, technological or scientific revolutions in our country have restricted only to the political stage. The country is still struggling to become a developed country. It won’t be an easy task without a new vision, new programme and new leadership for the country,” he stressed.

Mr. Premadasa paid tribute to Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for funding the housing scheme and added that India has donated Rs. 12 billion for Udagam Project that envisages to build 20,000 reawakening villages by 2025.

Gandhi Nagar is the second of the 100 model villages being built with Indian assistance and is named after Mahatma Gandhi, the highly respected world statesman and father of the nation in his 150th birth anniversary.

High Commissioner of India, taranjit Singh Sandhu, Ameer Ali, State Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Rural Economic Affairs, Parliamentarian Seyed Ali Zahir Moulana were also present at the ceremony.
