The Education Ministry had planned to implement an online system which helps to retrieve and manage information in the education system accurately.

Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said the online system had been introduced in the education history for the first time.

“The online systems should be active and efficient and it is relevant to keep updating the details relating to principals, teachers and school children, the Minister advised,” the Minister said.

So far, the information has been obtained by the census taken in June every year, he said.

“This online system includes information such as the number of available teachers, service details since on their first appointment, details of the present serving school, the nature of the appointment, promotions, the class, grade, the appointed teaching subject and the present teaching subject,” the Minister said.

Having access to all information in the teachers’ files, can help to solve many issues when creating their pension files.with the help of the system, officials would be able to take immediate decisions at the national level.

“All the officials relating to provincial and zonal education had been informed in this regard. The system would include 247,000 teachers at the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service and Teacher Assistant Service. Every teacher should check their details once a month with the use of their system login account. If they find anything wrong in their details the relevant teacher should inform this to the Zonal Education Director through their school principals.

The Ministry is in a process of entering students details of all schools in the country to the system and with the use of the system, the details relating to every student could be retrieved in the future.
