Practice before preaching!

-

We have observed yet another meaningless double massacre in the USA. It is unbelievable and unacceptable that this Super Power continues to be critical of Human Rights violations around the world, while the basic right to live of innocent Americans are violated - they are being brutally massacred without any rhyme or reason other than the financial support provided by the National Rifle Association to the Republican Party and the President who choose to ignore this issue. It is a question of you scratch my back I scratch yours.

Hence there is no gun control, and anyone is able to purchase a firearm and bullets without any restrictions. It is a very juvenile attitude towards this very serious issue. Gun control is absolutely necessary in developed countries as well as in countries like ours - developing countries. Gun control in USA is a priority to preserve the lives of its citizens. I have heard of several very young people requesting firearms for their protection. One has to consider the fact where some of these shootings took place - places of worship, schools, colleges, supermarkets etc, and we cannot declare that the victims were at the wrong place at the wrong time.they were just getting on with their normal lives.

I request the representative of the govt of the USA in Sri Lanka, to kindly put America on the correct path regarding human rights before preaching to us. SWINITHA DE ALWIS
