MOTHER TELLS OF TERROR AFTER MAN ASKED TO BUY HER SON

‘How much for your son?’

-

A man allegedly approached a mother and her four-year-old son, asking her ‘how much for your son?’ before attempting to snatch the young boy.

Aimee, 34, and her son Cruze were walking through the Richmond Market Place car park in Melbourne about midday on Friday, when the frightening incident took place.

Aimee’s husband Daniel, who wasn’t present at the time, told 9 News the man had asked his wife ‘how much for your son?’

‘She was taken aback and said “excuse me?” and then he lunged for my son and said “how much for your son?” in an angry tone and went to grab him,’ Daniel said.

The man allegedly tried to snatch Cruze by putting his hands under the boy’s arms, but Aimee foiled his attempt.

Aimee panicked and yelled at the man, asking him what he was trying to do.

The alleged attacker then ran away as she managed to grab hold of Cruze.

Daniel said he and his wife have been left rattled by what could have turned into a kidnapping.

‘She was pretty shaken, you wouldn’t think it would happen to you... we just couldn’t believe it to be honest’.

‘I wished I had of been there. I would have done something. It’s hard to believe that this could happen at your local shops,’ he told The Daily Telegraph.

‘I’d say it was a bloke that’s got mental issues. I don’t think it was a kidnapping. It sounds like he has mental problems based on what he said: “How much for your son”.

Aimee then grabbed hold of Cruze and ran into the safety of the busy shopping centre.

Police were called but they were unable to find CCTV footage of the incident, as it happened to be out of range of security cameras.

Inspector Stuart Davis said the man is now on the run and described as in his 40s or 50s, a disheveled appearance and a large build.
