“I had just done one music video for the Centigradz song ‘Hadaa Ganna Me Hitha’, when I was approached by producer Janaka Siriwadana who pencilled me into his tele drama ‘Malee 2Aththamma’ ”

Young Udari Kaushalya is an allrounder who has proven her prowess as an actress, dancer, singer and also a television presenter. She is now excelling in dubbing too. The Colombo Musaeus College old girl who is also armed with a Business Management Degree from a New York University, says she never intended to enter the glamour world, but destiny drew her to this field which she does not regret today. “I had just done one music video for the award-winning Centigradz song ‘Hadaa Ganna Me Hitha’, when I was approached by tele drama producer Janaka Siriwadana who pencilled me into his tele drama ‘Malee 2 – Aththamma’ which also became the most popular tele drama that year. That is the biggest turning point in my career,” said Udari. “I had also worked as a freelance television presenter in a few channels. That experience was also vital for my life. I am working on ‘Ravana’ which is being telecast currently. Director Dhanushka Rathnayake has chosen me to play a key role in a new tele drama which is to be launched next month. I am also acting opposite Menaka Rajapakse in a new tele drama which is to be telecast soon,” said Udari who had excelled in dancing too. “I studied music as a subject in school, but I studied dancing externally. I have won several allisland dancing competitions at school level and inter-university level, but unfortunately I have not got an opportunity to showcase my dancing talents so far in the glamour field. I am well known among my friends and known groups as a singer. Whenever I am at a party or function, I am generally called upon to open the singing session and also to close it. I am seriously planning to do some of my own songs soon,” she said. “I am so grateful to producer Janaka Siriwardana for the opening he gave me to begin a new chapter as an actress. I also convey my thanks to Centigradz for the crucial break they gave me in that first music video. They really meant a lot to me. I recall with gratitude all those who have helped me in my journey as an actress, singer and presenter,” said Udari.
