Installation of 59th President of Rotary Club Colombo West

Mr. Pravir Samarasinghe was recently elected as the 59th President of the Rotary Club of Colombo West for the upcoming year 2019/20. His journey in Rotary started in 1997 as a member of the club, has served as the Director Community Service and International Service and was awarded the Project of the Year in 2016.

Pravir is currently the Director/ Group Chief Executive Officer of Overseas Realty (Ceylon) PLC a leading property company listed in the Colombo Stock Exchange. Prior to which he was the Group Director/chief Operating Officer of a diversified conglomerate. (And serves on the Board of Directors of several public listed and unlisted corporates.)

The Installation of the 59th President was ceremoniously held at the Hilton Colombo followed by a dinner theatre with a sit-down dinner and broadways finest musicals presented by the talented Workshop Players’, an unforgettable night of entertainment enjoyed by the members of the club.

Looking at the year ahead, and in keeping with Rotary International President’s theme of ‘Connecting the World’ the club will focus and work towards increasing its membership, making the club more inclusive and providing more opportunities for the members and their families to engage and thereby creating a more vibrant membership base.

Rotary which commenced in 1905, is a worldwide organisation whose membership now exceeds 1.25 million in over 200 countries with the motto of ‘Service above self’, and in Sri Lanka itself, has more than 2060 Rotarians in 70 Rotary Clubs.
