Is there anyone who doesn’t love chocolate? Believe it or not, Hilton Colombo has dedicated an entire month to celebrating the rich, tasty delight in all its glory. Celebrating their seasonal produce of the month, Hilton Colombo brings to you Chocolate in forms you probably didn’t know you needed. An evening filled with everything chocolate, from Chocolate Face Scrubs to dresses made of Chocolate. It goes without saying that this is truly every chocolate lover’s dream come true.
With an array of chocolate infused high tea specialities on the buffet and a spectacular line-up of chocolates and desserts, High Tea was held on the 7th August at the L.A.B. The Mini Chocolate Bagel with Smoked Salmon, Cream Cheese, Cucumber and Quail Egg, the Dark Chocolate and Chip Rubbed Pork Belly with Chocolate Barbeque Sauce, along with White Chocolate Baba Ghanoush and Devilled Egg Mini Sandwich with Curried Chocolate Mayonnaise were some of the featured Chocolate infused savoury dishes.
Although we thought the selection and the flavour combinations were a little unusual, the contrast in flavour pleasantly surprised us. The combinations of Leek, Chicken and Chocolate Pie, the Smoked Chicken Mini Sandwich with Wasabi Cream, Rocket and Dark Chocolate Loaf and the Chocolate Corn Dogs worked great together. The attempt at taking the most contrasting flavours and ingredients to create a set of unique and complimentary dishes was brilliantly done, which goes on to say that the Hilton really knows what they are doing.
The dessert corner, however, had our undivided attention throughout. The collection of sweet treats ranging from Double Chocolate Caramel Miso, Raspberry Summer, Lemon White Sensation and Hazelnut with chocolate Kulfi were truly delightful. The Peanut Butter Soufflé with Milk Chocolate Cream, the Mascarpone Coffee Cremeux Mango Caramelito and the Noisette Crispy with Milk Chocolate Cream were the highlights of the evening and had us coming back for more.
The guests were also treated to a selection of scrubs, courtesy scrubs.lk as well. Chocolate enthusiasts can enjoy these yummy Choco treats as well as a range of chocolate infused cocktails and mocktails at Colombo Hilton’s various other in-house establishments all throughout August.
The Hilton’s lobby area also hosts a collection of Chocolate inspired dresses using 40kgs of real chocolate designed by the students of Mod’ Art Int.
