The Colombo Malay Cricket (CMCC) perhaps the oldest Cricket Club in Sri Lanka, better known for Cricket, Hockey, Sepak Takraw and of recent times Rugger, organized a different sporting event recently. They launched the CMCC Mastermind Quiz 2019 which was a ‘mind sport’.

The Mastermind Quiz was organized by the Indoor Games Committee of CMCC and was headed by Mr. Fazul Jayah, in aid of Sepak Takraw which is a popular sport in South East Asia. The Quiz was aimed at bringing the members of the CMCC, with other Malay Associations, their families, friends and guests together. Ten teams registered for the event which consisted of groups of friends, members from various Malay associations and even families. The evening was full of excitement, tension and laughter, whilst a lot of knowledge and useful world facts were gained by the participants. After a tense five rounds of quizzing and two tie breaker rounds, the team “Simply the Best” emerged winners, closely followed by the “Mabole Malay Association” as the first runners up and team “AMZUL” as the second runners up. The Quiz Master was the young and dynamic Nadeesh Corea and the independent judges were Reeza Jaleel, Shereen Jaleel and Mohamed Rikaz all renowned and respected personalities in the Quiz domain. Vice President of CMCC, Taslim Rahaman assigned to Indoor Games and Sepak Takraw stated that, this would be an Annual Fixture of CMCC and envisaged that future events would attract larger participation, based on the feedback of the first event.
