Ruwini Dunuwila who was born in the sixties, has made useful contributions in many spheres like music, cinema, tele drama and radio.ruwini who migrated to Australia in the nineties after her marriage, is still continuing her singing career Down Under. Ruwini Devika Dunuwila who was born on December 17 in 1964, studied at Matale BMS College. “My passion for singing started when I was around six or seven years. My favourite song then was Indrani Perera’s ‘Dilhani Duwani’. There was an amateur singing competition in Matale then. The panel included veterans like Rohana Beddage and Narada Dissasekara. I clinched the first place in that contest. That was the biggest turning point in my singing career,” she told Daily Mirror Life Impulse. “Later I sang ‘Dunukeiyya Malak’ in a another singing contest in Kandy. It was in the early eighties that Gretian Ananda introduced me to the SLBC. In 1985 I became an A Grade singer. Later I sang for 8 years at the Kandy Queens Club. In the meantime I got opportunities to sing for cassettes. I sang duets with Gretian, Keerthi Pasqual, Ranil Mallawaarchchi and others.
