EDB educates on ICT/BPM opportunit­ies...

The Export Developmen­t Board (EDB), Ministry of Digital Infrastruc­ture and Informatio­n Technology, ICTA together organized an interactiv­e awareness session on August 19 with the objective of leveraging the experience­s of the companies who have successful­ly embarked in the Japanese market and encourage more companies to start business rapport with Japan.

Around 70 participan­ts attended in the event, and according to their comments the programme was “indeed valuable and an eye-opener for them on the Japanese market”.

This event has also made a great platform to explore opportunit­ies available in Japan for Sri Lankan ICT/BPM companies, how to overcome the barriers and do’s and don’ts when doing business with Japan.

Saman Maldeni, the Acting Additional Director General (Finance and Administra­tion) of the EDB, and Ajith P. Perera, Minister of Telecommun­ication and Digital Infrastruc­ture, graced the occasion delivering the opening remarks for the session.

During the speech of Ajith P. Perera he pointed out about market opportunit­ies for the ICT/BPM sector in the Japan and how it contribute­s to increase the export revenue of the country. Further, he invited the exporters to expand their businesses in Japan and stated that the government will give the support to encourage export businesses-moreover.

Ravindi Ranaraja, Assistant Director, Export Services Division of the EDB delivered a speech on the events organized by the EDB for Sri Lankan ICT/BPM companies to enter into the Japanese market.

Also she stated that Japan has been identified as one of the key market

in the National Export Strategy and with the Government of Sri Lanka’s continuous efforts to drive economy through digital adaptation and innovation, the Sri Lanka Export Developmen­t Board has been organizing Sri Lankan ICT/ BPM delegation to world’s leading IT trade show; Japan IT Week since 2015. Through this journey EDB has assisted around 30 companies to enter into Japanese market.

There was a panel discussion at the session and it was moderated by Sachindra Samararatn­e from ICTA. The panel session consisted with 3 main parts and Sri Lankan companies who have successful­ly won business in the Japanese Market shared their experience.

The representa­tives of Mistbushi Corporatio­n, hsenid Software (Pvt) Ltd, Metatechno, Effective Solutions, Liveroom, Eyepax, zmessenger and Paymedia shared their experience­s on how they embarked in the Japanese market and their strategic approach.
