A slanging match in a back row!

-

Asecurity sector meeting was held in a committee room at the august assembly with Number One in the chair the other day. The meeting attended by the government and opposition high-ups as well as the top brass from the Police and the security forces had been summoned to discuss the enactment of legislation necessary for cybersecurity.

While the talks were underway, a security force high-up, an IT expert with a doctorate to boot, recalled that the legislation necessary for cybersecurity was drafted when Gota was the Defence Secretary, but could not be enacted due to certain circumstances.

A purohita at the state level from Kalutara, a lawyer by the way, who was seated in the second row with the security force high-up reacted angrily to the statement made by the latter.

“Don’t tell lies!” he said.

“I am telling the truth,” replied the security force IT expert.

“The proposed cybersecurity Bill is available at the Ministry!”

“The Bill is at the Ministry…? Nikam boru nokiya yanawa aishe yanna! (Go, without telling lies for no purpose)” The purohita lashed out at him.

However, the IT expert stood his ground.“to go! Who are you to ask me to go! You are the one telling lies…you may go if you want …!” was his equally angry rejoinder.

The slanging match had continued for a few minutes and finding that the IT expert was not prepared to give in, the purohita had walked out in a huff, they say.
