Dialog launches Flexnet software defined networking platform

-

Dialog Broadband Networks (Private) Limited (DBN), a fullyowned subsidiary of Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity provider, announced the launch of Flexnet – Dialog’s software defined networking (SDN) platform.

Dialog Flexnet provides a cloud-ready platform for businesses to manage their connectivity and networks. The grow-as-you-go business model introduces a new approach to network infrastructure investment in an ever changing and connected world.

Furthermore, upgrading a business network to Flexnet allows changes to be made at any time, giving IT managers the flexibility to continuously monitor, manage and optimise their networks to ensure the best performance for their investment.

Flexnet simplifies administration and management of traffic amongst branch networks or multiple locations, with the technology giving businesses the flexibility to free up internal VPN or ILL links for mission critical traffic between core systems, high-quality CCTV and video conferencing, while automatically moving less critical network traffic such as social media and cloudbased productivity tools to lower business broadband costs.

Further, the solution gives customers the choice of introducing affordable redundancy to their networks at a fraction of traditional costs. With Flexnet, getting on the cloud has never been easier as the solution seamlessly integrates with Dialog’s cloud partners and applications across the private, public and hybrid cloud while the solution’s inbuilt security functions provide the customer with enhanced protection against cyberattacks when deploying applications on the public cloud – giving IT managers the control to deploy and manage companywide security policies on the fly.

Dialog Enterprise Group Chief Officer Jeremy E. Huxtable said, “Cloud and connectivity are natural twins. With Flexnet we complement our state-of-the-art Cloud offerings (co-location and hosting, backup and recovery), leading connectivity (MPLS, VPN, Internet) with a Software Defined Wide Area Network (SD WAN) service. Flexnet combines five key advantages our customer have been asking for: security through real-time encryption, improved performance by smart traffic prioritisation, reduced maintenance due to centralised and software-based control, highest flexibility for adding redundancy or running updates across the entire network from a single point and – last but not least – flexibility with respect to growing the network as per business demand, be it by adding branches, bandwidth or valueadded services such as managed firewalls.”

With over two decades of experience and expertise in connectivity and digital services industries, DBN utilises its mature network, alongside cuttingedge technologies, to provide a solid underlay network, while facilitating the flexibility to integrate with the cloud and other services in a secured-scalableredundant overlay.

Users will also benefit from the advantage of managing application prioritisation, bandwidth utilisation and security settings via a self-service portal. Additionally, they can set up connectivity, with all local or global policies via a simple plugand-play system. With Flexnet, customers can fully leverage the benefits of cloud and softwaredefined networks and ensure future proofing for years to come.
