CILT conducts road show at SLPA
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport of Sri Lanka (CILT) successfully conducted a road show at the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), recently.
This is the 11th road show conducted by CILT Sri Lanka for this year. SLPA Managing Director Athula Hewavitharana, Additional Managing Director Upali De Soyza CMILT, Director Operations Jayantha Perera, CMILT, Deputy Chief Operations Manager Zavia Miskin, CMILT from the SLPA management along with nearly 60 SLPA officials and 50 students of Mahapola Ports and Maritime Academy took part in the road show.
CILT Sri Lanka Chairperson Gayani De Alwis and CILT Council members H.A. Premaratne, Dr. Priyangani Jayasundara, Ajith Ekanayake, Chandima Hulangamuwa and WILAT Vice Chairperson Maithree Attanayake along with Secretary General and secretariat staff of CILTSL attended the road show.
CILT Sri Lanka chairperson in her address highlighted that CILT is a 100-year old organisation and is the only chartered professional body in the country for professionals engaged in transport, logistics and supply chain and its main aim is to promote continuing professional education to uplift the skills and competencies of professionals in diverse backgrounds in the sector and create value to the economy.
She further emphasised the benefits of being part of this CILT global family. She also mentioned that CILT’S role is in both passenger and goods transport in all modes of transport, land transport, maritime, aviation and emphasised that the SLPA, being a key player in the maritime sector, plays a pivotal role in contributing to the economy and thanked the SLPA management for supporting in the continuing professional development of maritime professionals.
De Soyza during his address thanked CILT for visiting the SLPA and for CILT’S contribution for continuing professional development and policy advocacy work and urged the participants to gain the advantage by being a member of CILT.
