Thoduwawa beach threatened by sea erosion
A stretch of one kilometre of the Thoduwawa beach has been undergoing sea erosion for the last several days much to the anxiety of the residents of the area.
Fisher folks pointed out that hundreds of their huts had been destroyed compelling them to take their fishing boats to Wennappuwa.
Meanwhile a senior official of the Cost Conservation Department said step was being taken to prevent the unprecedented sea erosion in the Thoduwawa area and that they reinforced the most vulnerable location by piling sand with backhoes.
