The OUSL’S Digieduhac­k ’19, an Education Hackathon will be held Thursday October 3 and Friday 4 from 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. at the Central Campus of the Open University of Sri Lanka, Nawala, Nugegoda.

In the event, the best three groups are rewarded locally as LKR 100,000 for the first place, LKR 50,000 for the second place, and LKR 35,000 for the third place. All participan­ts stand a chance to win Euro 5,000 (Approx: LKR 1 Million) for the best solution irrespecti­ve of local selection in the global contest.

Theeducati­on Hackathon is organised jointly by European Commission, European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) and Aalto University of Finland, with the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) being the host for the event in Sri Lanka.

The Digi Edu Hack represents a pioneering way to collect intelligen­ce on the key trends arising from the digital transforma­tion for the education system and an opportunit­y to listen to stakeholde­rs innovative­ly.

Digi Edu Hack will help organisati­ons identify key challenges for education in the digital age and co-create innovative solutions across discipline­s and organisati­ons.

During the 24h events, multidisci­plinary teams of educators, students and innovators will get together to solve challenges in digital education and present solutions. After the main event, there will be a final global award contest, in which three teams that best represent the priority areas of the Digital Education Action Plan will be chosen and awarded, to implement their solutions.
