MD first began manufacturing jams during the 1930’s with the advent of the 2nd world war and the food shortages experienced in the country. A British Civil Servant called Mr. R H Basset introduced the manufacture of jams from local fruits to the Marketing Department and the MD Brand was born.

MD jams with pure & natural fruit are an ideal spread for children for their morning breakfast or as an evening snack. They come in a wide range of natural fruit flavours including Mixed Fruit, Woodapple, Strawberry, Mango, Raspberry, Apricot, Pineapple, Tropical Fruit etc. MD also has Orange Marmalade and Lime Marmalade and an exclusive range of Low Sugar Jams and Diabetic Jams offering a high percentage of fruit, by reducing sugar by 50% & 100% respectively.

MD is also well known for its mouth watering Tomato Sauces having introduced to the Sri Lankan market the Original Tomato Sauce, the Original Chilli Sauce, the Original Chilli Garlic Sauce and the Original Ketchup to suit the typical Sri Lankan palate. They are all manufactured with a much higher percentage of natural and high quality tomatoes compared to other local brands available.

MD continues to move forward as a leading player in the non carbonated fruit drinks market with its various flavours of MD Cordials with Double the Fruits of Concentrate, their Ready to Drinks (RTD) fruit nectars and MD Delight fruit concentrates. MD Delight Fruit Concentrates dilute a single unit of MD Delight to 9 parts of water and offers value for money to consumers with 42 glasses served from a 850 ml bottle, thus ideal for large gatherings.
