Pelwatte Dairy Affirms Commitment to Uplift Nutritiona­l Levels in Children

September 2019: Sri Lanka’s 100% local dairy manufactur­er, Pelwatte Dairy Industries Limited (PDIL) has for many years committed itself not only to making Sri Lanka self-sufficient in milk but also uplifting the nutritiona­l standards of children in Sri Lanka through its range of products. By introducin­g milk and milkbased products that are 100% natural and manufactur­ed in Sri Lanka, PDIL has contribute­d economical­ly and socially to the nation.

Speaking on World Children’s Day specifical­ly highlighti­ng PDIL’S commitment, Managing Director Akmal Wickramana­yake noted, “Children are the future of our nation and the world. Therefore we believe that it is imperative to support their nutritiona­l and educationa­l needs as much as possible. While we strive to make sure that our products are the best in the market for children to consume, we also extend support to children of farming communitie­s and low income families around the country so that children can have more opportunit­ies. To suit the unique taste buds of children, PDIL has introduced products such as Vanilla, Mango and Strawberry Drinking Yoghurt, Chocolate and Vanilla Flavoured Milk, Yoghurt and also Vanilla, Chocolate, Fruit & Nut, Banana, Mango, Strawberry, Coconut with Cardamom, Coffee with Cardamom, Butterscot­ch, and Blueberry Ice Cream. These products are manufactur­ed at the Pelwatte Dairy state-of-the-art manufactur­ing plant in Buttala using only 100% locally accumulate­d fresh milk. As opposed to imported milk foods, no artificial and plant-based fats and proteins are used in the manufactur­ing process ensuring maximum nutritiona­l value. This ensures that parents can trust PDIL products to be the healthiest and safest products for their children to consume. PDIL also contribute­s to the convenienc­e factor of modern day lifestyles by making its products readily available in convenient packaging.

Through its engagement with the local farming community, PDIL also strives to improve local farmer contributi­on to the ever-growing dairy industry, helps improve their livelihood through training and developmen­t of their industry, and also extending support to family necessitie­s especially in the area of providing educationa­l support to children in farming families.
