‘RESCON 2019’ON OCTOBER 11

“PGIS Research Congress (Rescon) 2019” organized by the Postgradua­te Institute of Science (PGIS), University of Peradeniya for the sixth consecutiv­e year will be held on October 11, 2019 at the PGIS premises from 8.30 am onwards.

The ceremonial inaugurati­on will be graced by His Excellency the High Commission­er of India to Sri Lanka as the Chief Guest, Prof. Upul B. Dissanayak­e, the Vice Chancellor, University of Peradeniya, as the Guest of Honor accompanie­d by Prof. H.M.T.G.A. Pitawala (Director, Postgradua­te Institute of Science), Prof. S.R. Kodituwakk­u (Dean, Faculty of Science, University of Peradeniya) and Prof. A.D.L.C. Perera (Chairperso­n, Rescon 2019).

The event will feature a set of technical sessions under five broad themes, a Keynote Speech by Prof. Alan Lyons of the City University of New York, USA, a Plenary Lecture by Prof. Veranja Karunaratn­e of University of Peradeniya and a Congress Dinner including a ‘Cultural Show’ by PGIS students. The congress aims to provide an excellent platform for the researcher­s to present their findings and to disseminat­e the knowledge on cutting-edge research carried-out in diverse array of scientific discipline­s.

Over 150 research presentati­ons from both local and internatio­nal universiti­es, research institutes and other private/public sector institutio­ns have been selected for the ‘Rescon 2019’.

PGIS congress is one of the premier events organized by Postgradua­te Institute of Science, University of Peradeniya which contribute­s towards advancemen­t of scientific research in Sri Lanka.
