Samarphana­m Sarees galore this Diwali in Colombo

Samarphana­m Entertainm­ent will be hosting its second saree and jewellery exhibition at the Mangaiyar Mandapam Saiva Mangaiyar

Vidyalayam on the 18th and 19th October. The entertainm­ent company which hosts several events, exhibition­s and concerts in various parts of the country will be having its second exhibition in Colombo, after two massively successful exhibition­s in Australia and New Zealand. The managing director of Samarphana­m Entertainm­ent, Malathy Sivendran,

started the company in Chennai, India 12 years ago and is organising some of the most happening concerts in India, Sri Lanka and the world over. Besides concerts, her passion for art and design inspired to start a saree brand under the company’s name.

The saree brand has done many exhibition­s across Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. This October for Diwali, Malathy will be coming out with the latest collection inspired by the art of Thanjavur. Over the years the city’s beauty, vibrancy and art were some things she admires. She has put together some unique creations of sarees and will be launching her linen saree collection for the exhibition. The linen collection will focus more on workwear, with subtle colours and simple designs. This is will be the second Samarphana­m saree expo in Colombo.

Malathy believes that elegance is an attitude, and the saree adds grace and beauty giving the right attitude. “The saree is an artistic piece of clothing. Beauty wrapped in around beauty, I want women and whoever wears my sarees to feel beautiful, confident and happy. I believe in diversity, and it has always inspired me and my work”
