Ja-ela Police toughens up on underage motorbike riders
The Ja-ela Police have implemented a programme to nab underage motorbike riders and have already arrested 18 underage school children who were riding motor bikes in a reckless manner and without being in possession of valid driving licenses.
OIC Traffic Branch of Ja-ela Police, I P C.M.D. Senaviratna said the arrested are studying in popular schools in Colombo, Negombo, Ja-ela and Kandana areas.
He said two girls aged 15 years were also among the arrested children.
IP Senaviratna said that this operation was launched on the instructions of OIC Ja-ela Police CI Nissanka Silva as many motorbike riders who were underage have met with accidents for reckless riding. were arrested in areas of Kudahakapola, Ma-eliya, Ekala, Kapuwatta, Tudella and Ja-ela while they were riding motor bicycles in by roads and the main road without valid driving licenses. This raid was launched by IP Senaviratna together with Sergeants Nishantha (30882), Gunathilaka (34741), Silva, PC Kosala (34208), PC Manjula (32056) Pc Dharshana (92465) on the instructions of OIC of Ja-ela Police CI Nissanka Silva.
