Rajitha criticizes Gota for failing to implement post war reforms
Minister Rajitha Senaratne yesterday said he mostly criticizes SLPP presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the former Defence Secretary stopped the implementation of post war reforms which he suggested to the then President Mahinda Rajapaksa just after the war.
Dr Senaratne told a press conference that the SLPP candidate stopped the programme which he suggested just after the war. He said he came up with many suggestions including putting an end to the war mentality which was prevailing during that time. “I wanted to make the Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa a Nelson Mandela but he ended up becoming a Robert Mugabe” Dr Senaratne said.
“I had a one and a half hour discussion with former President Rajapaksa just after the war and briefed him about how to reform the country after the war. However this was not carried out following the advice of former Defence Secretary” he added.
“I am criticizing the SLPP candidate manly because of his action to putting a stop to the post war reform programme which I proposed. However the SLPP candidate gave me all the support I needed to carry out my ministerial duties during my days in the former government” he also said.
Responding to a question raised by the journalists about the allegation made by the former FCID head that he was influenced by the politicians of this government, Dr Senaratne said he had actually been influenced by the opposition politicians. We uncovered CCTV footage on how the former FCID Chief met these politicians at Hilton Hotel.
