FASL conducts ‘Profession­al Certificat­e in Fintech and Blockchain’

The Fintech Associatio­n of Sri Lanka (FASL) recently conducted the course ‘Profession­al Certificat­e in Fintech and Blockchain’ (based on the Fintech course of The University of Hong Kong) ,at Hilton Colombo in collaborat­ion with Germany and Sri Lanka based AGSEP Research and Sri Lanka Chapters of the USA based AAPM and GAFM.

Lal Chandranat­h, former Managing Director of DMS Electronic­s and DMS Software Technologi­es was a special guest.

The course is based on video presentati­ons of a number of profession­als including Prof. Douglas W. Arner and Brian Tang.

Prof. Arner is the Kerry Holdings Professor in Law at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and Project Coordinato­r of a major five-year project funded by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council Theme-based Research Scheme on ‘Enhancing Hong Kong’s Future as a Leading Internatio­nal Financial Centre’. He has served as a consultant with, among others, the World Bank, Asian Developmen­t Bank, APEC, European Bank for Reconstruc­tion and Developmen­t, Islamic Financial Services Board and Developmen­t Bank of Southern Africa. He led the developmen­t of the HKU’S world’s largest massive open online course (MOOC): Introducti­on to Fintech, launched on edx in May 2018, now with approximat­ely 40,000 learners spanning every country in the world, as part of the first online Profession­al Certificat­e in Fintech.

Brian Tang is the founder of Asia Capital Markets Institute based in Hong Kong who has been a corporate finance lawyer for nearly 20 years, having worked in New York and California during the dot-com period at Wall Street firm Sullivan & Cromwell, as well as, at Credit Suisse where he worked on some of the largest and first-of-its-kind transactio­ns.
