FANTASTIC BEASTS 3

Is happening with the story shifting to Brazil

-

Warner Bros. is officially moving forward with

Fantastic Beasts 3, with the studio giving the sequel the green light for production to start in Spring 2020. The studio set a November 12, 2021 release date back in April, but a new report from Deadline reveals that Jessica Williams' character Eulalie 'Lally' Hicks will have a much bigger role in this threequel, with the story set in Brazil.

This continues the tradition of each Fantastic Beasts movie being set in a new locale, with 2016's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them set in 1927 New York and 2018's

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald set in Paris.

Hicks was introduced in 2018's

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald as a teacher

at Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the American version of

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Also returning for Fantastic Beasts 3 are Eddie Redmayne

as Newt Scamander and Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald.

Other returning stars include Ezra Miller as Credence / Aurelius Dumbledore, Alison Sudol

as Queenie Goldstein, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski and Katherine Waterston as

Tina Goldstein.

David Yates is returning to direct, after taking the helm on 2016's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and 2018's Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

Author J.K. Rowling, who created the Harry Potter universe, is also returning to write the screenplay with Steve Kloves, who makes his return to the franchise. Kloves wrote the screenplay adaptations for seven of the eight Harry Potter movies, all of them except for

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Fantastic Beasts 3 was originally slated to begin filming in July 2019, but the production needed more time to prepare.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was a hit at the box office with $234 million domestic and $814 million worldwide from a $180 million budget.

The sequel Fantastic Beasts:

The Crimes of Grindelwald came in just under its predecessor, with $159.5 million domestic and $653.7 million worldwide from a $200 million budget. As for the new story, no details have been given and it's unclear how or why

Lally Hicks' role will be bigger, or why the story is shifting to Brazil.

Williams has had a busy year, starring in Booksmart and

Corporate Animals on the big screen, while also appearing in an episode of CBS All Access' The Twilight Zone.
