The Dance works Centre celebrates 40 years of excellence in movement and dance. The directress of the school Kanthi Ranchigoda choreograp­hed and produced a delightful programme showcasing the skill and talent of the students to mark this significan­t milestone and to celebrate the effort of everyone who has contribute­d in any way to create the DWC.

The journey of 4 decades began with Aerobics and Exercise classes and from there, the school grew and evolved to what it is today. Kanthi's students now explore and enjoy a variety of dance forms which include ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and modern dance.

Her passion for perfection and total commitment to dance is echoed in her students' performanc­e and “Simply the Best” was proof of everything that encourages individual and group style and skill.

The show was the biennial production, which coincided this year with the 40th anniversar­y of the DWC, held on the 25th & 26th and 27th of October at the Lionel wendt Theatre, “Simply the Best” captivated the audience and provided a very enjoyable and entertaini­ng evening to all.

The directress Kanthi believes in the power of dance; she says movement to music is a form of relaxation, creative expression and therapy.

She further explains to her students that “Dance is a form of escapism, from the mundane and monotonous routines of our daily life”.

The students display great freedom of expression, confidence, skill and style and are able to handle a plethora of dance movements, bearing testimony to Kanthi's passion to share and teach movement with innovative ideas. she says dance can be used as a tool of enrichment in our lives.
