Two major Netball Tournaments before December 20
The Sri Lanka Netball Federation has decided that two major events will be held before December
20. They are the Junior National Netball Championships from November 30 -December 2 at the Torrington Stadium, Colombo and the Netball National Championships from December 14 - 15 at the Anuradhapura Public Ground and Indoor Stadium.
Thirty-six teams have confirmed their participation for the Junior Nationals. Entries for the Senior Nationals will close in the near future.
Sri Lanka’s first major international netball event will be the Asian Netball Championships in June in South Korea next year. The national pool is currently training under National Netball Coach Tilaka Jinadasa.
Sri Lanka is also holding discussions to play against several international teams, namely, Hong Kong, Kenya, Brunei, Singapore and Dubai.
The Sri Lanka Under-16 netball team took part in the first South Asian Netball Championships in Kathmandu, Nepal where Sri Lanka emerged champions. Currently there is an Under-19 pool.
The Sri Lanka Netball Federation has planned to select 11 netball coaches by 2020. They are: National Coach, Assistant Coach, Youth National Coach, Assistant Coach,
The Sri Lanka Under-16 netball team took part in the first South Asian Netball Championships in Kathmandu, Nepal where Sri Lanka emerged champions
Fitness Coach, Sri Lanka ‘A’ team coach, Fitness Assistant Coach, Under-16 Coach, Assistant Coach and Under-19 Coach. Other than that Under-16 and Under-20 District Coaches are also to be selected.
