Ceylon Chamber publishes members’ directory

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce has released a new and updated ‘Directory of Members’.

The directory is a comprehens­ive guide consisting of the contact details and business activities of 630 member companies of the Ceylon Chamber. These are further categorize­d as exporters, importers, manufactur­ers, service providers, agent’s representa­tives, traders, suppliers and wholesaler­s and joint venture interests of member companies, for easy reference. It also comprises useful contacts such as Sri Lanka diplomatic missions overseas, diplomatic missions in Sri Lanka, banks, hotels, government Institutio­ns and internatio­nal agencies. Arrangemen­ts have already been made to circulate copies of the directory to 128 overseas trade promotion organisati­ons, where the Ceylon Chamber has establishe­d partnershi­ps through signing Memoranda of Understand­ings.

Establishe­d in March 25, 1839, the Ceylon Chamber commenced with 26 members, when the population of the country was 1.4 million. Today, with a populace surpassing the 21 million mark, the Chamber’s membership has grown to 630, with an outreach of over 8,500 institutio­ns through various affiliated regional Chambers of Commerce, Trade Associatio­ns and Business Councils. Twentynine of the current members have maintained their membership for over a hundred years.

The Ceylon Chamber also has the unique feature of a confederat­ion of chambers of commerce and industry, trade associatio­ns, regional chambers, employer organizati­ons and bilateral business councils in Sri Lanka.
