Talal Rafi to represent Sri Lanka at WBAF World Congress

Talal Rafi, a Sri Lankan entreprene­ur and consultant will be Sri Lanka’s representa­tive to the World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF) and will be representi­ng Sri Lanka at the WBAF World Congress in Istanbul, Turkey in February 2020 as well as in the Global Startup Committee.

“The participat­ion of Talal Rafi in WBAF will add value to the organizati­on and to the world congress in Istanbul in 2020. Sri Lanka is a growing economy located strategica­lly and there are lots of opportunit­ies for investment in Sri Lanka. A pleasure to have Sri Lanka represente­d,” said WBAF Chairman Baybars Altunas.

WBAF, which is an affiliated partner of the G20 Global Partnershi­ps for Financial Inclusion (GPFI), supports startups, develops entreprene­urial ecosystems and helps venture capitalist­s and companies connect with internatio­nal companies and organizati­ons.

Sri Lanka’s representa­tion at the WBAF provides a wide range of opportunit­ies for startups, innovators and high growth businesses and opens doors for economic developmen­t.

The World Business Angels Investment Forum interacts with leaders in all areas of society to help assess needs and establish goals, bearing in mind that the public interest is of paramount importance. WBAF engages with a wide range of institutio­ns which are public and private, local and internatio­nal, commercial and academic to help shape the global agenda.

WBAF does this through its partnershi­p agreements and joint projects developed with internatio­nal institutio­ns such as the Internatio­nal Finance Corporatio­n of the World Bank Group (IFC), London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), Internatio­nal Science Parks Associatio­n (IASP), World Associatio­n of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), the European Trade Associatio­n for Business Angels (EBAN), African Business Angels Network (ABAN) and the Middle East Trade Associatio­n for Business Angels (MBAN).
