Finagle Lanka celebrates 25th anniversary milestone
The award-winning baking and confectionary artisans Finagle Lanka Pvt. Ltd. marked its 25th anniversary milestone at Siyasra Luxury Banquet Hall, Seeduwa recently.
It was held amidst a distinguished gathering comprising of its key customers, leading suppliers and over 400 employees responsible for the company’s success.
The Chief Guest was M.H. Omar, Founder – Brandix Lanka, who together with the Guests of Honour – State Minister S.B. Dissanayake, Aslam Omar, Director – Brandix Lanka and Nandanee Abeywardane graced the occasion.
The company’s history is rooted in humble beginnings, starting off as a small-time baker named ‘Ran Ovens’, who subsequently entered into an international joint venture and established Finagle Lanka, a state-of-the-art bakery.
It heralded an industry revolution, and within a few years, became the first Sri Lankan baker to be awarded the ISO 9001:2000 certification for quality of output. Over the years, they grew from strength to strength, gaining the
FSSC 22000 and HACCP Food Safety certifications, which attested to the hygienic nature of their processes and products – so essential for a food manufacturer.
Other achievements were the development of its range of frozen baked and par-baked products and exports to international markets in the USA, UK, Australia and the Maldives, which bears testimony to the fact that they continue to set the pace with their pioneering achievements. Moreover, they were active participants in reviving the All Ceylon Bakery Owners Association, which strengthened the hand of all bakery owners in the country. Furthermore, Finagle Lanka is now a fully-owned Sri Lankan organisation – something we as Sri Lankans can be proud of.
Today, Finagle Lanka is a reputed baker of excellence, serving the entire island through its network of agents. As their product portfolio expanded, so did their workforce, which today exceeds 400 associates.
All these achievements are very good reasons for celebration. The Managing Director, Mahinda Ranasinghe, the man who guided the destiny of Finagle Lanka from its inception, stated, “The odds were against us from the beginning. Our associates, our suppliers, our valued customers, distributors, and other stakeholders, all contributed in ample measure towards our many successes over the past 25 years.
“It is the result of not only working hard, but also working together as a team; if not, none of our achievements would have been possible. This celebration was held to recognize, appreciate and thank all who are involved in our venture. It serves to emphasize the fact that teamwork is essential as we go boldly into the future that awaits us.”
