People’s choice to be awarded at 14th SLIM Nielsen People’s Awards

The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing announced that the SLIM Nielsen People’s Awards will take place for the 14th consecutiv­e year in March 2020.

Conducted together with one of the leading research agencies in the country, Nielsen Company Lanka, the People’s Awards aims to capture the brands and persons who have truly won the hearts of people through their endeavours in the respective categories. The event was inaugurate­d in 2006 and has been held continuous­ly every year.

The awardees are chosen solely by the vote of the people, taken during research conducted by Nielsen and is deemed one of the most popular marketing awards in Sri Lanka. The research is conducted covering all 25 districts of the island to best appraise the opinion of the public about the brands and personalit­ies they love and respect.

The categories cover more than 40 segments and awards and include the People’s Brand of the Year, FMCG Brand of the Year, Household Care Brand of the Year, Beverage Brand of the Year, Food Brand of the Year, Television Channel of the Year, Advertisem­ent of the Year, Film of the Year, Television Programme of the Year, Male and Female Singers of the

Year, Actor and Actress of the Year, Sports Person of the Year and Youth Brand of the Year.

Commenting on this year’s awards, Project Chairperso­n Nuwan Thilakawar­dhana stated, “The SLIM Nielsen People’s Awards has become the pinnacle of national awards amongst brands and personalit­ies because it is based purely on the true voice of the people. It gives the much-needed feedback to brands on where they stand with their consumers as well as the general public.”
