Alleged sale of land on forged deed
Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne yesterday further remanded former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen’s brother Rifkhan till February 20.
Former Provincial Councillor Rifkhan Bathiudeen was produced before Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne yesterday from the remand prison and was ordered to be further remanded.
Rifkhan was earlier remanded over for selling a 78-acre land in Talaimannar to a private company under a forged deed.
He was further remanded as the Criminal Investigation Department investigations were not concluded and also on considering a complaint made by complainants counsel over an alleged death threats made to the complainant via telephone by an unknown person.
He was accused of an alleged acquisition of 78 acres of land in Talaimannar valued at Rs.24 million by a forged deed. The CID had initiated investigation following a complaint lodged by Mohamed Abdul Cassim.
