Trinity rout Ananda for eighth outright win

Trinity College coasted to a comfortabl­e eight-wicket win over Ananda College in the Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter which concluded at Ananda College Ground yesterday.

Trinity dominated proceeding­s on both the days having bowled out the Anandians for a score of 174 with right arm pacie Ruvin Pieris taking five scalps.

Trinity went on to make a score of 229 runs with overnight batsman Thevin Amarasingh­e who was unbeaten on 63 adding a further 25 runs for a top score of 88 runs.

In their second innings, Ananda were bowled out for 156.

Trinity chasing 102 runs for victory in 12 overs were spearheade­d by an unbeaten knock of 59 by Dinitha Siriwarden­a which helped them to reach the target in just 9.4 overs to record an eighth outright win.

MV Ambalangod­a in the match which ended at Mt Lavinia.

Six other outright wins were recorded yesterday by Mahinda College Galle, who came back having conceded a first innings lead to Maris Stella, Rahula College Matara, Ananda Sastralaya Matugama, Nugawela Central, Vidyaloka MV Galle and Homagama Central.
