Denmark’s Orana to set up US$ 1.5mn fruit processing plant in Pannala

Danish fruit juice producer Orana will set up a fruit processing plant in a two-acre land in the IDB Industrial Estate in Pannala, with a US$1.5 million investment.

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to allocate a 2-acre land plot for Orana to set up the fruit processing plant.

Orana is expected to enter into an agreement with Industrial Developmen­t Board to acquire the land to set up the plant.

Under the first phase of the project, the Cabinet Office stated that 30 employment opportunit­ies will be generated.

Orana is one of largest Danish suppliers of fruit-based raw materials and semimanufa­cturers. Further, it is also a leading producer of natural extracts and fruit-based food service products.

Orana is based on the island of Funen, the orchard of Denmark, with subsidiari­es in Vietnam, India, Malaysia and Egypt.
