Dialog holds Prashansa Future Connect Forum to digitally empower senior citizens

Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s premier connectivi­ty provider, held the programme segment of Dialog Prashansa – Future Connect Forum, the first initiative of its kind in Sri Lanka, in an attempt to educate and empower senior citizens on digital technology and build confidence and competence among the community.

Held in January 2020, this forum partnered with Derana 60+ and took a holistic approach to the subject, targeting multiple areas of knowledgei­n order to benefit participan­ts. Topics covered during the forum ranged from how to use a smartphone, adapting to a digital lifestyle via mobile applicatio­ns, social networking, online research and other online services such as e-banking, e-commerce and government services.

The programme follows Dialog’s successful launch of the Dialog Prashansa mobile package, a dedicated package for government service pensioners, in partnershi­p with the Department of Pensions. The exclusive package includes a free smartphone, along with 200 on net minutes and 300 SMS free, with discounts on Roaming, IDD and VAS, in addition to a host of discounts for Asiri Hospitals and Doc 990, all for a price point as low as Rs. 638.

Commenting on the forum, Rainer Deutschman­n, Group Chief Operating Officer, Dialog Axiata PLC said, “The launch of Dialog Prashansa, along with the success of the Future Connect Forum emphasize Dialog’s continuous efforts to cater to all communitie­s in Sri Lanka, in order to further drive digital inclusivit­y for all and enrich lives and enterprise­s. It is also part of a larger roadmap to educate and empower all citizens to be digitally adept.”

Future instalment­s of the forum will be rolled out in all districts throughout the course of 2020. Additional­ly, Dialog also digitalise­d the department of pensions processes and launched the ‘Sri Lanka Pensions App’ in partnershi­p with the Department of Pensions on National Pensioners’ Day marking the first mobile applicatio­n in Sri Lanka for retired State sector employees, digitally empowering them to access services from the Department of Pensions.
