ACHIEVING ELECTORAL VICTORY IS EASY: SAJITH

- BY YOHAN PERERA

Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa yesterday said achieving an electoral victory is not a difficult task for an alliance led by him as long as there is no sabotage. Speaking during a public gathering in the Maharagama electorate yesterday, Mr. Premadasa said, the powers given to him would be of no use if anyone sabotages his political journey.

“I have been given everything including the leadership of the new alliance and the opportunity of heading the nomination board but I won’t be able to do anything if my journey is sabotaged,” he said.

Mr. Premadasa confided that there has been closed-door talks between those who are known for political deals to get a motion passed in parliament with a two-thirds majority for an early general elections.

Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa yesterday said it would be possible to ensure the balance of power if the alliance led by him emerges victorious at the next general elections.

He said an alliance led by him will not go on a confrontational course with President Gotabaya Rajapakse if it wins the general elections.

“Even four or five parties could run a government effectively if there is a will” he said.

He also commented, “No one will be left out in the new alliance but one cannot work with corrupt people”.
