RAHUL READY TO UNVEIL ON VALENTINE’S DAY

Veteran journalist and author Ernest Waduge who has completed 55 years in the media, especially as a film journalist, is planning to launch his newest book ‘Rahul’ on February 14.

Rahul is Ernest’s 25th book publicatio­n, six months since his last novel ‘Niliyakage Vivahaya’.

“This is a romantic tale between Rahul – a married businessma­n cum newspaper group owner and Anuki who is from down South. The educated girl comes to Colombo in search of employment and she wins the heart of Rahul who owns a mega communicat­ion company which he names after Anuki. Anuki, however does not want to be Rahul’s mistress despite his exceptiona­l love for her. Meanwhile, another businessma­n who supplies goods to the company gets involved with Anuki. Basically, this love triangle is woven into a beautiful love story that all lovers should read. That is the reason why I am launching it on Valentine’s Day,” said Ernest.

a freelance writer to the ‘Kala’ film journal compiled by Ariyaratne Kahawita. Having strengthen­ed his career there for 15 years, Ernest later served almost all newspapers and magazines in major media institutio­ns. He was the founder and editorial chief of a newspaper group that rolled out more than 100, 000 copies.

“I read every word of those papers, subbed all the copies and gave my own headlines. I believe that was the secret to my success. Today my daughter Madhara and my son-in-law Sujeewa Prasannara­chchi are in charge of Madhara Publicatio­ns. I have plans to start a few newspapers soon,” said Ernest.
