WEDNESDAY Glancing through Ananda Pilimataluva’s book "Recipes from the cookery book of the last Kandyan dynasty", I learnt quite a few facts I didn’t know. Bo Tree is Peepul Tree, Koora Thampala is Amaranthus, Venivel is Calamba Wood, Goraka is Gamboge, Katuwellbatu is Prickly Nightshade, Asamodagam is wild celery, Kitul is Wine Palm. THURSDAY

Some facts on Spinach. It originated in Persia. It is easy to cook and incredibly versatile. It features in almost every cuisine around the world. It goes well with butter, cream and cheese, and tastes delicious on its own, or with pastas, quiches or stir-fries. It is highly nutritious , and high in anti-oxidants. It is an excellent source of Vitamin C, Vit E, and Vit B6,which are essential for a strong immune system, protection from free radicals, and for healthy blood. It is also high in iron , and dietary fibre. It can be sauteed, stirred into soups, or added to bakes.

FRIDAY

SATURDAY
