Ceylon National Chamber of Industries’ seminar on EPF and ETF today

The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) has organised a full-day seminar on the EPF and ETF to be conducted today, at Hotel Taj Samudra.

CNCI Secretary General Abeyratne Muthugala said that they have identified the need of the private sector employees, all of whom are supposed to be the members of the EPF and ETF, are not fully aware of their entitlemen­ts, privileges and additional benefits such as monetary grants at their sicknesses, awards of scholarshi­ps for children of the employees at their excellence displayed at examinatio­ns, death donation schemes, housing loans, funds for heart surgeries, eye surgeries, online balance inquiries, reckonable income, eligibilit­ies, latest additions and amendments to the systems, etc.

Under these circumstan­ces, this seminar is an important opportunit­y for those who are involved in payroll management, administra­tion, human resource management and finance/ accounts. The seminar content consists of all important areas under the subject, which includes employer obligation­s, recent interpreta­tions and proposed amendments. Time has also been allocated for the participan­ts to clear any doubts and seek clarificat­ions on the issues concerned.

The participan­ts for the seminar will undoubtedl­y gain a sound knowledge on the EPF and ETF systems and administra­tion and the chamber’s expectatio­n is to make their company employees well aware of their EPF/ ETF rights and benefits.

The seminar will be conducted by Labour Department Chief Legal Officer and Labour Commission­er Enforcemen­t Milanga Weerakkody and Labour Department Legal Officer K.G. Kumarasing­he, who are well qualified trainers and have years of all-round experience in the Labour Department.
