Chairperson, Western Health Care Dr. Nilmini Withana has done Sri Lanka proud by becoming a Sri Lankan entrepreneur to be recognized and awarded at the Health category at the prestigious Us-based Business World International Organization (BWIO) Awards Ceremony in Malaysia.

There were over 60 awards presented at this awards ceremony for successful enterprises from around the world, representing various industries.

Since its establishment 10 years ago, Western Care Homes has enjoyed a momentous rise to the top and an all round reputation in Sri Lanka owing to its around the clock, unparalleled elderly care services. Today its homes, numbering more than four, enable more than 70 people to live active, independent lives. “Providing a high quality individually-tailored service is what matters to us,” Withana said.

Western Care Homes’ array of services extend to treatments for Alzheimer’s, dementia, hypertension, strokes, heart disease, and cancer, among other ailments associated with age. Its comfortable and luxurious homes provide its residents with tranquillity, peace of mind, and reassuring help in a safe, relaxing environment.

Nilmini Withana stated that the staff of Western Care Homes have given priority to medical attention, nursing care, on time provision of meals, in-house laundry, personal care services (such as feeding, dressing, bathing, and toilet assistance), and recreational activities with tender loving care.

She added that she was highly satisfied with BWIO’S coveted award. “Elders make up one of the most vulnerable yet unrepresented groups in our nation. It is up to us to help them live the lives they want to,” she said. Withana further stated that Western Care Homes recently acquired a block of land in Nugegoda to start yet another care home, providing all the services the other homes already provide to its residents.

Withana’s victory at the BWIO, moreover, is far from being her first: an ardent Lions Club member, she has won more than 60 awards and accolades in recognition of her very many acts of social service.
