National Poson Ceremony in Mihintale with limited participants
The National Poson Ceremony of this year will be held at Medamaluwa, Mihintale in Anuradhapura under the theme ‘Arogya Parama Labha’ with a limited number of participants, the Prime Minister’s Office said.
The decision was taken when the Poson Committee convened at Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa’s residence at Wijerama Mawatha in Colombo yesterday (15). It was decided to go ahead with the theme ‘Arogya Parama Labha,’ which was also the theme of this year’s National Vesak Ceremony.
The decision was taken to celebrate the completion of 2,328 years since the arrival of Mihindu Maha Thera to Sri Lanka, in line with health instructions and regulations imposed by the health authorities, in order to refrain from disrupting the Covid-19 eradication programme of the government.
Parallel to the National Poson Ceremony to be held at Mihintale, Pirith Chanting, Hewisi Pooja, Kapruka Pooja and Aloka Pooja, with the sponsorship of media institutions, will be conducted at the Atamasthana premises with a limited number of participants.
