400 people stranded in Kalutara District sent home

About 400 people who had been stranded in the Kalutara District were dispatched to their respective home towns on Saturday under the supervisio­n of Senior DIG of Western Province Deshabandu Thennakoon. Police said that although 900 people had registered with the police, only about 400 of them had turned up and said that they had stayed back since the factories began to function after the relaxation of the curfew. The people who wanted to leave were provided with transport facilities to their areas in Anuradhapu­ra, Jaffna, Polonnaruw­a, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Hambantota. Police said that they would be subject to self quarantine in their homes

DIG Kalutara Division Vijith Gunaratne, SP Kapila Premadasa an several senior official were present to see them off.
