DR. ASELA WIJESUNDERA

-

Though I am a dental surgeon by profession, I am known in the field of arts as a lyricist and literary critic. On January 1st this year I promised veteran singer Amarasiri Peiris that I would pen his biography. This pause I got due to the Covid-19 pandemic helped me start writing his biography. I also wrote a few songs, with a special one among them. The unexpected leisure gave me time to grow more vegetables, fruits and green leaves. I feel so delighted about it. Despite the difficult times, I personally saw that emergency medications are delivered to the homes of patients especially those suffering from toothaches. I also focused on my higher studies, catching up with some pending assignments. I hope to resume work at my Rosewood Dental and Medical clinic soon.

But I am so lucky that so many caring friends of mine – Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and Christians, ensured that I never stayed in hunger.
