TRI-ZEN construction resumes with innovative health and safety practices

-

TRI-ZEN, the latest ‘smart’ residential development by John Keells Properties, resumed construction on May 4, after a lockdown since March 20, 2020. Chief Medical Offer of Health Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni, area medical officer and other public health inspectors visited the TRI-ZEN construction site on June 1, 2020, to assess the health and safety standards that have been introduced at the site.

Construction resumed with 125 workers, following a commendation by the health officers on the company’s approach to sanitisation and other health and safety measures implemented at the site in accordance to government regulations. Conducting PCR rests prior to recruitment, providing transport to the site and back for all workers currently on site, daily temperature checks, fogging thrice a week, are among a few of the safety protocols that have been implemented on site.

“We took this challenge positively as a team and implemented all measures to ensure the safety of all our workers and staff at site as our staff is our foremost priority. We are aiming to meet the set deadlines and deliver the project on time,” said John Keells Properties TRI-ZEN Development Manager Lumbini Pathirage.

Further, with China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) declaring the month of June as the month of safety awareness and productivity enhancement, TRI-ZEN has arranged several programmes to improve the awareness of safety practices and procedures on site.

A week of fun and exciting activities were planned out at the TRI-ZEN site in order to lighten the mood of its staff and encourage each individual while striving for safety on site. For this purpose, a competition was held for the workers at the site, where they were expected to complete structural works consisting of erection of scaffolding, framework and rebar work, which was supposed to be completed within 40 minutes. The winners were selected based on their speed, quality of work, following of safety practices, etc.

Following this, an emergency drill was carried out, where the workers were educated on how to respond to an incident and fire, along with demonstrations on the procedures to be followed.

The 53-storey TRI-ZEN development is highly sought-after for its central, Colombo 2 location and ultramodern one, two and three-bedroom ‘smart-home’ apartments – each equipped with a suite of key facilities and conveniences like no other. The latest John Keells Properties project is that perfect urban home that comes with both, a luxury lifestyle as well as an affordable price tag, starting from Rs.26 million.
