Nation Lanka Finance appoints Suresh Amerasekera as CEO
Nation Lanka Finance (NLF) announced the appointment of Suresh M. Amerasekera as its new CEO, with effect from June 9, 2020.
Up to now he was functioning as COO, from September 2, 2019.
Amerasekera is a senior banker, with over 35 years of experience in the finance industry. He last held the position as CEO of Pan
Oceanic Bank, Solomon Islands, from May 2016 to September 2018. Prior to that, he held the position as CEO of Housing Development Finance Corporation and Orient Finance PLC.
For the last 12 years, he held five positions in the ‘C Suite’ in two banks and three finance companies, including the current position.
He has also served as Assistant General Manager at Seylan Bank and as Chief Operating Officer at Alliance Finance Co PLC and had his initial training in banking at the Colombo branches of State Bank of India and Bank of America. Amerasekera holds an MBA (International Business) from the Edith Cowan University, Western Australia and Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting from Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK.
He has a proven track record in strategy formulation, corporate and retail lending and risk management.
According to the company Chairman Victor Ramanan, Amerasekera’s substantial exposure in the industry would definitely help the company in its restructuring and strategy formulation to meet the new challenges in the industry.
NLF was incorporated as a public quoted company in July 1987 and the current directors are Chairman V.R. Ramanan, Deputy Chairman U.H. Dharmadasa, H.J.C. Perera, J. Rudra, P.M.L.K. Karunaratne and K.M.S Kandegedera.
